SDL Accounting ‘health check’ – independent panel review

The Murray–Darling Basin Authority (MDBA) contracted an independent panel to review its sustainable diversion limit (SDL) accounting framework. The panel, consisting of Mr Graeme Turner (Chair), Mr Tom Vanderbyl (Badu Consulting P/L) and Dr Saideepa Kumar (University of Tasmania) submitted its report to the MDBA in June 2019.

The MDBA has reviewed and noted the independent panel’s findings and recommendations and is in the process of developing a work plan to address the issues raised by the panel. These issues include material risks to the delivery of the Basin Plan as well as risks to perception and communication relative to the SDL accounts.

The MDBA will work with Basin state governments and other relevant stakeholders to implement the work plan.
